Content updates

New Fisheries Regulation Amendments and Notices have been added to the Fisheries Law product since the 2024/25 fishing season officially started on 1 October for New Zealand.

The main fishing season is from 1 October to 30 April and the bulk of fishing legislation happens during this time however customary fishing Notices come into force throughout the year. Customary fisheries are recognised fishing rights of tāngata whenua for traditional and customary practices – for example, traditional management of a fishery and customary non-commercial food gathering.
