Health and Safety Awards 2011:Nominate your candidates!
Let’s celebrate health & safety!
The Pike River disaster has reminded us all about the importance of workplace health and safety and the possible consequences if things go wrong.
But away from the headlines, many New Zealanders labour behind the scenes to ensure their colleagues remain safe and well. Here is the opportunity to recognise that good work.
Safeguard magazine – proudly supported by the Department of Labour – has run the annual New Zealand Workplace Health & Safety Awards each year since they began in 2005.
Entries for the 2011 Awards are now open, so by all means invite your HR and health & safety teams to take a few minutes to reflect on the successful initiatives they have implemented in the last 12 months or so. Then make sure you encourage them to enter!
Entry is free and simple.
The closing date for entries is 15 April 2011, so don’t delay.
The Awards will be presented at a gala dinner on the 1st of June 2011 at the SKYCITY Convention Centre, Auckland. This date coincides with the annual Safeguard National Health and Safety Conference at the same venue. The programme is packed with top speakers, including Professor Patrick Hudson from the Netherlands on rethinking the science behind safety, and Dr Rod Gutierrez from Australia on a psychology-based approach to achieving a healthy safety culture.
