With 2017 nearly behind us, the time has once again come to look back over another year of High Court of Australia judgments. In total, the Court delivered 56 judgments with an HCA media-neutral citation in 2017, which was three more than 2016. 2017 saw the Hon Susan Mary Kiefel AC replace the Hon Robert Shenton French AC as Chief Justice of the Court, and the Hon James Edelman sworn in as a Justice of the Court, to fill the vacancy left by Kiefel CJ’s promotion.
