Among the plethora of fee increases gazetted on 30 May and taking effect on 1 July 2024 are those in the Employment Court Amendment Regulations 2024.

The explanatory note provides:

“These regulations increase the fees relating to proceedings in the Employment Court by 10%. The fees are exclusive of goods and services tax.

“The new fees have been calculated so that they are rounded to the nearest dollar once goods and services tax has been added. This ensures that, in practice, fees can be set at a dollar amount.”

To see the new filing and hearing fees alongside the existing fees, go to sch 3 of the Employment Court Regulations 2000 (Fees) in Westlaw New Zealand. This page shows the current fees first, followed by the new (1 July) fees under a Future Amendment heading.
