The session introduces content is available in International Materials, found in Westlaw Classic.
The session will explain how to find cases, legislation, treatises, journals, current awareness and news articles across several jurisdictions.  Understand how to search using Natural Language and/or Terms & Connectors. Learn how to refine search results and print or download relevant content.

We recommend this course as an overview at the start of your degree, or a refresher of the basics in the later years of your degree.

Westlaw - Advanced Research Skills for Students

Body

This interactive student workshop allows students to seek assistance from a Training Specialist on a legal research task, topic or thesis.

The Trainer will provide guidance and best practice on research strategies leveraging various Westlaw platforms, including Westlaw NZ, Westlaw Classic and Westlaw UK. The content can include New Zealand and International cases, journals, commentaries, news and encyclopaedic works. 

Note: It is recommended students have completed an introductory Westlaw course prior to attending this course.

The session introduces Westlaw NZ and focuses on navigating the site to find quick ways to locate legal content. 

Learn to find legislation, commentary, case law and journal articles on all areas of law. Downloading and exporting content will also be covered.
