Westlaw NZ Tip - Finding Cases with Tricky Case Titles

This tip helps you to find a case with unusual or tricky titles in Westlaw NZ.

Supposing you want to find a case called Man O War Station Ltd v Auckland Council.  

This case has been listed in the following ways - e.g. Man O War, Man O'War, Man O' War.  

To capture all versions of these titles, try the following:

  1. From the Westlaw NZ home page, click on the Cases search template from the left pane.
  2. Type man  /5  war into the Case Title/Party Name field. This will find the words man and war within five words of one another, in any order.
  1.  Click Search to locate cases in Westlaw NZ containing man and war in the party names.
